Beginners courses

Taking a course is an excellent way to learn Tango in a progressive and structured manner. You will receive a programme detailing what will be covered during the length of the course, so you have an objective to work reach at the by the end.

We recommend taking our beginners courses more than once if you can, as you will gain deeper insight the second time. Your teachers will be able to tell you if you are ready to progress onto the next level!

Upcoming courses

Do I need a partner?

You do not need a partner to book the course. You will be rotating partners during the class, which is a great way to learn the improvisational skills needed to lead and follow. Of course, you may choose to book the course with a partner, in which case you are welcome to stick together or join in with the rotation.

You are also welcome to switch roles!

What if I can't make the 4 weeks?

You have the option to pay per session, at the door, by cash or card. The price for 4 weeks booked in advance is £35 and the price per individual class is £10. Don't worry if you miss a session, you will be able to catch up as the teachers will recap what was covered in the previous weeks.

What should I wear?

You can wear any comfortable clothing (jeans are fine!). If you can, try to bring a pair of shoes that doesn't grip the floor (so you can pivot easily). You don't need to buy dance shoes just yet, but if you are looking for more comfort and ease of movement, any dance (jazz, ballroom, salsa or tango) shoe is great. Ladies, there is no need to wear heels (only if you wish!)

Can I take the course more than once?

Yes! We encourage you to take the course as many times as you wish. Tango is a difficult dance, but it all comes down to the basics: walking, pivoting and how to use the embrace to communicate. Each time you take the course, you will gain a better understanding of the fundamental concepts of tango. Once you have completed one course, you make like to take it again, and also try the improvers class alongside to push yourself to the next level.
